Life in camp was not easy and was not a safe place to be. Yet there were saloons, bars, and brothels for the workers to empty their pockets on. This place was the opposite of luxurious. Made with simple wood, it just barely met the needs of the workers. Without the law, the workers had a very improper lifestyle that included drinking,smoking, gambling and shooting each other while playing a game called Russian Roulette. Men were paid very little money and food was expensive.
